Mark Horvath: Seattle’s Tech Community Gave Me the Tools to Take on Homelessness

Equipped with a video camera, a giant online following, and endless compassion, Mark Horvath documents and shares stories of people who are experiencing homelessness at http://invisiblepeople.tv/. We caught up with Mark at Seattle’s first-ever Hack to End Homelessness (http://www.hacktoendhomelessness.com/), an event bringing together Seattle’s housing advocacy community and service providers with bright minds in technology and innovation. The goal of the hackathon is to design and build solutions to all forms of homelessness, and to also build understanding about homelessness in our community.

Mark was at the event to not only collaborate on a tech project, but also to attend the Seattle premiere of a film that documents his work. “@home” (http://athomedocumentary.org/) follows Mark on a road trip across the country as he makes homelessness in America visible. Read a review of the film on the Firesteel blog: http://firesteelwa.org/blog/open/title/culture-watch-at-home-mark-horvath-and-three-wishes-for-solving-homelessness
